I was just wondering which is a better way of making SVCDs from DVDs , using DVD2SVCD or using Sefy's Classical Newbie DVD Conversion Guide v2.03 on this site which uses Smartripper, DVD2AVi and Tmpgenc as the main programs. Which gives better quality? Please give details.

Also, in DVD2SVCD can the outut mpeg be saved instead of getting a cd-image file burnt straightaway. I would prefer to have the output mpg file and then use TSCV to burn the file rather than using the in-built cd-image maker in dvd2svcd.

  3. I have used DVD2SVCD to encode 2 DVD's so far and they have come out with surprisingly great results. DVD2SVCD can be configured to use either Cinema Craft Encoder or TMPGEnc (which I use) and on my 1.4GHz system it will rip and encode and make bin/cue files in roughtly 10 to 12 hours.

Only other SVCD encoding methods I have used are DVDx and FlaskMPEG and I prefer DVD2SVCD over both of those. There are many features it does for you that are to numerous to go over but its worth a try and freeware.
