  1. I have a video file in mpeg-2 format, ready to be burned to an svcd except that my sony dvd player won't play it. So I would like to convert to an mpeg-1, and did so, using TMPeng, but when I went to play it it seemed that the video was moving too fast. The audio sounded fine and seemed to be coming at about the right rate, but it was getting further and further behind where the video was. I also tried re-encoding using Nero and ended up with the same result. Does anyone know the reason for this or a way to fix it?

    Any help would be appreciated...

You could try this tedious method:
    1) Using DVD2AVI convert to a .d2v project file and .mpa audio file
    2) Using MPA2WAV convert .mpa audio to .wav
    3) Write Avisynth script to open .d2v file in VirtualDub
    4) add .wav file in VirtualDub
    5) Under "Frame Rate" click on the option to make audio and video durations the same
    6) Frameserve to TMPGEnc

You MAY be able to change step 3 to open the .d2v and .wav directly in TMPGEnc. (not sure, since I don't use that method)
