  1. I was wondering what is the maximum length of a SVCD one can burn on a 700 MB CDR?

I can capture in SVCD (using Power VCR II) but the maximum length I can burn on a CDR is around 20-25 minutes. The captured resolution is in DVD NTSC aspect of 720x480. A capture of 1 minute results in about 30 mbyte.

Any ideas about if I can put longer movie on a 700 MB CDR?

  2. If you really stick to SVCD standard (max bitrate 2520) then you can have a min of 43 minutes on a 700MB CD-R

By using VBR (for example min 900, max 2500), you could even fit more minutes in some cases (someone has claimed 80mins).

Arun, which bitrate do you capture your SVCD with?

  3. I've burned up to 88 minutes on 1 CD that looks good and about 95 minutes that looks so-so. Just depends how low you go on your bitrate.

    95 minutes = 160 KB audio + 980 KB video
    88 minutes = 160 KB audio + 1060 KB video

(both were done using CCE and 4-pass VBR).

  4. I got excellent results with TMPENC on 2 disks I burned a 90 min SVCD at 2000kb 2-pas variable bit rate & 224kb audio

I ended up with 790Mb segment & a 779Mb one, both of which fitted on a 700Mb disks using Nero

  5. your best bet is to use 90 min disks, you can put a whole movie on 2 disks. The quality is great.
