  1. My wife who comes from Malaysia, mailed when she was in her homeland a box full of DVDs to watch here in Sweden without knowing anything about region coding, etc. first.

These films, apart from two that probably are coded region free or nor coded at all, can not be played here, since the films are from region 3 and Sweden is region 2.

Now I wonder if there is any software available that can convert a film from one region to an other of choice - or to region free?

1000 thanks in advance for any rapid reply.

Yep, most rippers make the dvd region free. Just rip with the free dvdfab decrypter and burn with imgburn.

  5. I am trying now with one film. I hope there are no limitations since they want me to pay for the full copy

  6. Whats the best option - to check 'VOB' in the left panel of DVDFab or just to keep 'General'

Discs from Malaysia most likely do not use the newer anti-copy methods that DVDDecrypter did not understand, requiring you to use DVDFab, etc. You could just download and install DVDDecrypter as you may find it easier to deal with. Guides are available on the internet and probably here on how to use it.

Malaysia uses PAL so the DVDs should only need region coding removed to play. No conversion necessary. Do note that some DVDs may be dual layer discs so you'll need to burn those to DVD+R DL discs (we strongly recommend using Verbatim discs and ImgBurn for burning). DVDDecrypter comes with a burning program that should be OK. The author eventually turned it into ImgBurn after removing the ripping ability (he was basically forced to shut down work on DVDDecrypter via a lawsuit that settled out of court).

  8. Yes I have found out that Verbatim are the best, too. They last longer. I import them at 1/3 of what they cost in Sweden, from Germany. I think the tax is 200% or something here, and much of that tax goes to the film producers. (As they say). 100 DVD-R here costs nearly 100 US$....

Do you know if DVDFAb makes a complete DVD Image ready to burn?
