Having a video stability issue with my Panasonic DMR EZ28, so I bought a Toshiba, which stabilizes the picture but does not offer a Flex Recording option. Since 99% of what I dub are Sporting Events, varying time lengths are the rule rather than the exception. I rarely ever dub without needing to utilize the Flex Record feature.
Is Flex Record a feature exclusive to Panasonic???

Both Pioneer and Toshiba built Toshibas('06 and earlier I believe) had a similar flexible recording setting. Both use a MN setting which I believe has settings for 1/10th of a hour increments. AFAIK Panasonic is the only one left with such settings. I use basically FR and occasionally SP and LP. If you had a Panasonic w/HDD(like my new EH-59) you'd find out how much easier it is to use FR with multiple titled DVDs. The EH-59 runs ~$279 for a like new floor model, mine came with the original box.

Note the international Panasonics don't have a North American tuner but record from line outputs(cable box, DVR, etc.) just fine and work on either 220v or 120v.
