Lo fellas.
As a complete nooobie, I hope this ain't a stupid question.
I've took a DivX film and burned it onto 1 VCD using Nero 5.5 (letting Nero do the MPEG encoding with standard settings) and the results are pretty good.
....Except, every few seconds there is a noticeable pause.
What are the most likely causes? Any guidance gratefully received.
Hopefully, asking here is better than trial and error, but I'll do that if I have to![]()

i have the same problem as well, if anyone can help then gr8. im using TMPGEnc version 2.52 if that helps
-
Hi Mr Grumpy,
You are probably converting a NTSC based Divx to a PAL VCD,
there is a difference in framerate that cuases the little pauses
PAL has more frames / second than NTSC Therefore the same frame is beeing used --> result a little pause.
Let me hear if this is the case..

Mr Grumpy,
I forgot to tell you that you should convert to NTSC VCD
(with TMPEG works fine). and burn it with Nero on a CD.
But first tell me the exact framerate, because there are 3
different kinds of framerates. You can find out using Virtualdub
and look at the properties of the file.
Greeting,
Borgster -
I always have problems when writing with Nero, so I switched to NTI CD Maker Pro 2000, and got much better results
-
Thanks Borgster.
I don't know if the original is NTSC or not - I <ahem> found the AVI ;)
I am trying to create a PAL though.
I've run the DivX through VirtualDub and this is what it says:
Frame size 720x416, FPS 25.0, ms per frame 40000ms
This tell you anything?
Thanks again for your input. -
Mr Grumpy,
Yes, 25 fps means you're having a PAL based file, Therefore you should
use the PAL template.
Have you tried to use TMPGEnc yet? , There you can select a PAL (and all other ) template. After conversion to MPEG-1 (VCD) you can burn with
NERO. ( I find the TMPGEnc much better than NERO's way of converting)
See the VCD pages on this site for the differences between the several
formats.
Greetings,
Borgster -
Lo m8.
I encoded using Nero overnight so I'll burn it tonight and let you know.
Thanks for your help :)
