Hi... I've just upgraded from Sony Vegas 9 to 10. Now, whenever I move the cursor along the timeline, the audio plays back as well as the video. Since I'm not moving the cursor at a steady (or proper) speed, this sounds terrible.
Is there any way to mute the audio when editing (other than manually muting, then unmuting, each track)? Thanks!

LOL! That's a feature called audio scrubbing and has been present in Vegas for at least several previous versions. It is used by most professional editors to decide where to make a cut in the track at the end of a word and not half way through it etc... Just turn off the volume control.
See the help file "scrub" I have Vegas 9 and for my work couldn't live without audio scrubbing!!!!SONY 75" Full array 200Hz LED TV, Yamaha A1070 amp, Zidoo UHD3000, BeyonWiz PVR V2 (Enigma2 clone), Chromecast, Windows 11 Professional, QNAP NAS TS851 -
Hmm—I assure you, Vegas 9 did not play the audio when I moved the cursor. So I gather this has been added in Vegas 10. I can see how it'd be useful under some circumstances, but I sure don't want it on all the time.
Again, is there a way to turn it off so that audio occurs only during playback, and not editing? Or must you actually turn audio on and off, manually, between each edit and playback? I'd find that hard to believe...
I also have another quick Vegas editing question:
After you make a ripple cut (manually or automatically), Vegas closes the gap. But what if you want to then cross-fade the tracks where the cut occurred? How can you select only the portions of the tracks to the right of the cut point, so you can move them to the left? -
If you move the playback cursor with the top "nub" it will scrub the audio too, if you grab it at track level it will not.
Use "Group" on selected tracks to move them as a group. (right click menu) -

Well, yes, I know about doing that—but I often have dozens and dozens of events on all tracks, some of which are very short and would require zooming way in to select accurately. Can it really be true that I must manually select all those events each time I want to make one mid-project cross-fade?
I appreciate your help, but I think the best thing to do is start a new topic specifically on this, er, topic. I've just done so here. Feel free to chime in there too. Cheers, AnderLast edited by Ander; 22nd Jan 2011 at 03:07.
