    so i was curious as to go about ripping subtitles and convert them to srt maybe so that i can add them later on a dvd authoring program? i know makemkv extracts all audio and subs with the movie and makes it to a mkv file. so is there a way to extract those subs in the mkv file and make to srt?

    Extract with mkvtoolnix and convert with BDSup2Sub (java is required).

    is there a simpler way to extract subtitles from an mkv file to srt file?
