Hey, i have been given the official x box emu and i need some feedback.

The guy who gave it to me said it runs pretty good but u need a fast pc- 1.5 ghz, 64 mb vid card, 512 mb ram is the minimum requirements.

I cant test this cuz for one, u also have to have the REAL xbox game cd as well.

So u gotta have the above requirements plus a real xbox game.

My new isnt even 1 ghz yet, but im building me a 1.7 but i nor no one else wants to wait that long(2 months)

I just emailed it to one person, but he said he wont be able to test it in a few months, so that doesnt help me any, I NEED someone to test it ASAP.

hate to play the skeptic here but I have a feeling (well I know, actually) that your "Xbox emu" is a hoax. Check it out for yourself, open a few of the files with a standard text editor, or even better use a hex editor, and scan for lines of plain text - If you have a hold of the "emu" I think you do, it should consist of many files, some dll's etc. If you look at these files using even a simple text editor you should be able to find occasional plain text sentances that should not be in an Xbox emu. Such lines might be, "Sony Computer Entertainment Corporation". I am also pretty sure that one of the dll's is actually a dll taken from MSM messenger, other files included are game data files for Wolfenstien 3D, and even a renamed Notepad.exe, the German version!
Oh yeah, and run a virus scanner on the files that you have, sometimes hoaxes such as this are actually disguised viruses. Preying on the gullability of the user.
If you want, post this "emu" on your website (I dont have AIM ) and I will prove that this xbox emu is total and utter horse shit.

It does not have any additional files, it is just an exe just like Connectix VGS is.
It does NOT contain a virus.

I opened it up in wordpad and found no odd code.
(Keep in mind the person who physically gave this to me said it works fine)

So, i'll put it on my site, u come test it out and tell us if its real.

Remember the specs as i was told-

LOL, pretty good attempt at a hoax, but a hoax none the less.
The first suspicious thing that I came across when viewing the file, was that the binary was written in Delphi, hardly a programming language one would use for an Xbox emu. And that as good as confirmed that the emu is a fake.
So, an Xbox emu that needs a 64MB video card, is 850KB or so in size and written in Delphi? ROTFLMAO, yeah right.
All this "emu" is, is a mock up what a GUI for an Xbox emu would perhaps look like. Absolutely no functionality in it though I am afraid. Personally, I could almost certainly tell it was a fake just by running the binary and looking at the menu's.
This hoax is easy to pull off, even I could pull something like that out of my ass in an afternoon, and I dont even use Delphi that much.
The guy who gave this to you is a total and utter liar, or he is making fun of you. Either way, this is no working Xbox emu.
Sean, my advice to you, is to delete this peice of crap from your HD and not to get fooled by any other hoaxes like this. If there indeed was an Xbox emu, then it would be big, BIG news. Until then, Xbox and PS2 emus will remain fairy tales (read: generally hoaxes that generate ad based revenue for the sites that host them).

the real emu we all want is a ps2 emu for the xbox. It would be cool to be able to play ps2 games on an xbox making the machine the ultimate console. However xbox games on a ps2 is of course impossible cause of combatibility issues.

While i am at it i think i shoud state that i don't think it is possible for a pc to read an xbox disk due to the size of the disk.

physical size of the disc, or storage capacity on the disc? doesn't Xbox use regular DVD/CD size discs?

It does as far as I know. Its the GameCube that uses the unconventional smaller disks.

well, to be honest i think in the near future there will be a xbox emu.

if you look at the specs for the box. its a celeron cpu, with memory a HDD and a nvidia video card, cant remember the brand of audio processor. BUT what is really interesting is, its run on a NT platform.


with those specs and that information i dont think its inconceivable that there will be an EMU at sometime.

Well, just looking at the basic Xbox specifications, you would think that it would be easy to emulate on a PC. However, the Xbox has an extremely fast I/O subsystem, one which cannot be easily acheived on a PC: The rate at which the data is shifted between the xbox components is a lot faster than todays PC can emulate well. Make no mistake about it, creating an Xbox emu may sound easy, but it will prove very difficult. Even in a years time, we may still be waiting to hear of a beta. You are right though, it is not inconcievable that there will be one at some time or another. But judging by todays PCs, it wont become a reality as soon as people think it will.

Thats incorrect. There is NO PS2 emu . And its called EKAF because it is FAKE spelled backwards; a sure sign that it is a hoax. Which will probably fool many people...

What is this "Official Source"? The people who actually have a working xbox emu in beta... or *COUGH* TechTV?
Also, your reasoning is flawed: If a guy comes up to me in the street and offers me a Rolex watch for £10, do I automatically assume that it must be real because, a) He *says* it is, and b) There are such things as Rolex watches?
Personally, I would be highly skeptical of such a claim, I would want solid proof that it was real before I believed it, or even gave any credit to it at all.

So far, all you have put forward as evidence, is a testimonial (see * below), some specualtion from TechTV and citing that an "Official Source" said there was an Xbox emu coming out soon. Do you believe anything just because it got aired on TV? Or what some "guy" tells you? Or because it was on the web?

TechTV? Yes they do: I have heard a few times of claims made on there that the xbox is 3 times as powerful as a PS2, which is of course, complete shit. Not everything said on TV is written in slate.

I said the ONLY emu out there called EKAF is for the ps2. no duh its fake, i can read backwards.

2nd, the ps2 emu for the mac is called- the Grinch Project. Search for it on yahoo. They are workin with sony so they wont get sued.

Techtv interviewed the people in the grinch project bout a week ago. They are serious.

Sean, I wasnt saying that there wasnt a PS2 emulater under development: I meant that there isnt one available. And because there is one in the works, doesnt mean that it will ever see the light of day. Some projects like that get scraped before they ever even get to beta stage.
