i just had to share this hilarious story with you guys:

    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/security/363379/single-software-licence-shared-774-651-times

Avast noticed that a license for its paid-for security software, sold to a 14-user firm in Arizona, was being distributed online. Rather than shut down the piracy, the company decided to see how far the software would spread.

The Avast Pro license showed up on file-sharing sites, and a year and a half later it had topped three-quarters of a million active users

The license is being used in 200 countries – and has even been installed on two computers in the Vatican City, Avast added.

  2. nice share.
There are few things to notice.
    1) as per Avast CEO “There is a paradox in computer users looking for ‘free’ antivirus programs at locations with a known reputation for spreading malware.”.
-- Free-wares must be downloaded from trusted sources. It is always better to check Download URL with www.totalvirus.com before download.
    2) The licence is being used in 200 countries – and has even been installed on two computers in the Vatican City, Avast added.
Who knows 2 users in the Vetican City might be using pirate (warez) version or cheaply sourced.
    3) The company is turning the piracy into a marketing opportunity.....
The best example I wud like to cite here is Microsoft.
Did Microsoft really bother how many users world-wide uses pirated version.
Key lies in here. It's the bottom line.
The fact is Microsoft is the World Leader.
however I have WinXP OEM licenced, and New one with Linux (cost saving).

It is quite funny that People from 200 countries went for AVAST poor scan and detection rate.
There are better choices available for FREE rather than AVAST.
    Anyway nice share.

These copies are probably in Satan's embassy in Vatican City. That devil is a real bastard when it comes to piracy!

Isn't anti-virus software just like a condom for your computer ?

That is a hilariously perfect analogy.

The best antivirus measure, of course, would be to have frequent backups... which would be like "going back in time to before you caught an S.T.D." for your computer.
