I backed up the video to disk using DVD Fab HD Decryptor 4. However, when I use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2, at about 35% done encoding, I run out of memory. I watched it and when the application hits 2GB, it stops with an "out of memory" error. Any thoughts about what to do now? I can watch the video completely from the Hard Drive. I just can't transcode it to fit on a DVD.

  2. Many dvd's have blank sections in main movie VTS , use VobBlanker to remove them. Cut and retain the movie part.

    No problems.

77.2 percent with only AC 3 5.1 english. It doesn't look that bad on my 32" LCD when played through an upscaling dvd player. Any bigger of a TV and it would probably be very noticable.

    Not great....
My TV sort of sucks so I really don't care.....
My wife hasn't seen either the backup or the original yet(a gift
from santa) so if she decides the backup sucks she can use the
original and suffer through the menus. My wife hates menus and
warnings as much as I do.

Hi dvd fab HD decrypter have some problems with blank cells...

I used Ripit4me and dvdshrin with deep anlyz and a soft filter, movie only

    The output was just fine...

Try to use ripit4me first, if you cannot backup use dvd fab hd decrypter

and clean the movie with fixVTS if dvdshrink complains...

fixVTS is a great program. One of the problems with the decrypting programs is that they sometimes leave a damaged DVD structure. This can cause problems when playing as well as using programs like DVD Shrink. They can't cope with the damaged DVD structure. fixVTS does a great job at repairing damaged DVD structures. It never hurts to run it on a cracked DVD and it can save some strange problems. You have to have the DVD files in a directory on your hard disc to run fixVTS. After you run fixVTS, then burn a disc from the directory the DVD is in with DVD Shrink or whatever you choose to use.

I used FixVTS on the movie which I ripped with DVD Fab Decryptor. It fixed stuff, and then I ran Nero Recode 2, which seems to be the same as DVD Shrink, only a bit faster. I got the same error. I ran out of memory when I hit 2GB. I don't know how much memory these normally use. Maybe I'll go find a DVD9/RW and forget the transcode.

Are you using the latest version of DVD Fab Decrypter? They frequently update it for the latest DVDs.

For problem titles that have already been ripped I use PGCedit with the PSL2 plugin. Although it's no longer updated it still manages to find an amazing amount of crap I assumed had already been removed.

You know, I have to agree. So far RipIt4Me has done perfect for me too. Either making an ISO or passing it off to shrink

However, I didn't buy this movie, so I can't say it would work with it

I had the exact same error, 2 Gb of memory and DVD Shrink stopped. I downloaded the trial version of AnyDVD and re-riped, and DVD Shrink worked like a champ.

I've just had exactly the same thing happen with Jungle Book 40year edition, DvdHd Fabdecrypter-DvdShrink, "out of memory- the paging file is too small for this operation to complete" pops up at about 27% of the encode., then hangs up. What gives, some new fiendish protection scheme of recent ? Whats the way around it ? How do they fool your memory into thinking its full ?

PS I got over it by the RipIt4Me-FixVTS-Shrink method suggested here, but it was touch-and-go.

I think the "Remove useless cells" feature of DVDFab Plat first became available in v4.0.1.6 (beta). I downloaded that trial version yesterday night and tried the "Clone" function to back up my single-disk "At World's end" purchase. I was going DVD-9 to DVD-9. Everything went smoothly wrt the production phases.

The resultant back up DVD has two "stutter" points in the scenes where the council/brethren meet and put their weird pieces of eight into the tray. The first stutter occurs about when Barbossa bashes the head to get his eyeball token for the tray, and the second one happens (maybe) 20 seconds later. With 4.0.1.6 (beta) it is really a stutter and pause, but it doesn't appear any frames are skipped. These artifacts are repeatable with subsequent retries of the whole Clone process, so it's not a "tired bits" issue with the source or target DVD's, nor the HDD, etc ... just the DVDFab program.

This is in marked contrast to previous versions of DVDFab Platinum where these two scenes (and additional ones throughout the whole DVD) fumbled badly (skipping maybe the following 30-40 seconds). 4.0.1.2 was much beter than the "3.x.x.x" versions, but 4.0.1.6 has really reached the tipping point where the developers need fix only one or two last bugs in order to release a version which does "At World's End" back ups 100% accurate. I'm really impressed with the product and the responsiveness of the developer(s).

BTW ... the DVDFab rip to HDD plays 100% correct, at least using Nero Showtime in XP or Mplayer in openSuse. So it is the "write to DVD" part of the product that has the problem. As an aside, when DVDFab is 100% accurate for backing up this title, I will purchase it. Confidence!

Yes, that's what I see. The rip using DVD Fab is perfect. I just cannot transcode it using Shrink.

  22. Reading these posts is all very exciting. Unfortunately I am in China where the DVDs don't have any copy protection and the movies are 35 cents so nobody bothers to copy them. Somehow I need to get a hold of Hollywood's latest copy protected movies so I can also get in on the fun of backing up movies.
Question: I just downloaded Ripit4me. I don't have anything to rip, but with a name like that I decided to download it. Problem, is I want to read the software FAQ and Help Guide but I can't seem to get it. Can someone tell me where I can get the FAQ and Help Guide for Ripit4me?

RipIt4Me is discontinued, closed down by The Powers.
To stay in step with "protection" development, use DVDFab HD Decrypter or AnyDVD.

Hi RipIt4me works together with dvd decrypter and dvdshrink so these programs is a must have...

RipIt4me will work in most cases and will give you a cleaner output...

I havent tried the newset version of dvdfab hd decrypter but it looks like it still
have problems with crapy cells left behind. Thats why dvdshrink have problems.

    So give both a try...

I got this movie backed up with Fab Platinum.....However I also ran a second backup (just for testing) with DVDFab HD..and after failing to compress with shrink,I finally succeeded, rip with Fab HD > FixVTS>VoBblanker set to "Blank Auto">Shrink.....
I could have used DVDRB Pro,but I just wanted to see if it would work as there's been a few issues with Fab rips not working with shrink and other progs...

On Dec 5/07 I posted my experience with 4.0.1.6. Here's an update:

For the early burns I was using a ProData DVR+R DL with a MID of RICOHJPNSD0 (43h), which had served me well. The 3.x trial SW (can't remember exactly which one) of DVDFab Platinum had produced quite a few anomalies, skipping up to 15 seconds of the film at times. The 4.0.1.2 version produced much less, and the 4.0.1.6 (beta) version was almost perfect ... just a few stutters at the layer break, but no lost frames.

After receiving a response to my post, and from the vendor, I went out and bought some Verbatim DVR+R DL (2.4 - 6/8/10) Singapore stuff with MID of MKM001 (00h) and it burned perfectly. And some 2 minutes faster than the 8x ProData media.

So it looks (from my viewpoint) that 4.0.1.6 version is ready for prime time. And I have also paid the vendor to have my trial version of DVDFab Platimum upgraded to full usage.

  27. Question for those who have ripped this title with DVD Fab HD.............

I just bought my Blu-Ray DVD ROM Drive. I downloaded DVD Fab, and the program could not detect the disk at all. So, I tried loading AnyDVD first, assuming Fab had a issue with copy protection. Fab told me that I had to shut down AnyDVD for it to run. The exact same thing happened with Ratatouille (Both Disney). So, for some reason, Fab does not see either of these disks.

AnyDVD does see these disks, and I can rip with AnyDVD. So, I know my drive is working. I just wanted to use Fab, because it looks like I can rip just the main movie, and the audio track I want, instead of everything like AnyDVD does.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is my Fab issue a compatibility issue with my ROM drive, or something else?

    New to this board.

Don't know if this has been answered yet. But I used 1click to back up my movies. I did a movie only backup of Pirates AWE and it worked just fine. Video was compressed to 8?% I'm going to try a whole disc bakup next, just got some dvd dl's.
