  1. All i want is to convert my high definition AVI file to an image to burn to my BD-R. I want it to remain at 1080i quality. I don't need any extra features. I don't care about menus or chapters.

When making a DVD, I use convertxtodvd to convert my videos to DVD format. I then use DVD Shrink to make an iso and I use DVD Decrypter to burn it.

Can I do basically the same type of steps when making a BD-R? What programs would I use?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get! I've gotten a headache searching through the forums trying to understand this format.

MultiAVCHD. Use Imgburn to burn the resulting folder structure.

You could also simplify your DVD conversions by simply burning the ConvertXtoDVD folder with Imgburn. No need for DVD Shrink ISO conversions and DVD decrypter any more.

Try Ripbot to convert your avi to BlueRay,much easier to use than multiAVCHD. I've converted 1920x1080 avi's with it.

  4. ImgBurn looks like excellent software! Thank you so much for pointing it out to me! No more using DVDShrink just to make my iso files

I will try both MultiAVCHD and Ripbot and see which one works best for me.

Out of curiosity, does one take up less resources then the other? The less wear and tear on my computer, the better.

Uncropmkv is easier and faster, part of multiavchd.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  6. I will start using MultiAVCHD

I am using Windows XP. Ripbot won't work because I don't have a Windows 7 type of font and I need to install it. That makes no sense and just makes me skeptical about using the program.

Isn't UncropMKV for MKV files, not for AVI to Blu-Ray?

    Also, two more questions please....

With MultiAVCHD, should I just keep all the default settings? If not, what would be the best audio and video formats to choose?

Do all Blu-Ray players support BD-R media or do I have to find a stand-alone player that specifies BD-R support?

    Thanks again!

I'm also using Windows XP and Ripbot works flawlessly. I never had any issue with fonts installing Ripbot with XP.

  8. I now have a second problem so hopefully you can help me!

I was supposed to receive a HD AVI file. Turns out they gave me an MOV instead!

When I try to play the file with VLC Player, it plays audio but no video.

MultiAVCHD says the video is not supported

What can I do to get it to work?

If I have my information correct, this is what I know about the MOV file....

    Resolution: 1920x1080p
    Frame rate: 23.976
    Audio: LPCM
    Video: AVC H264?
    Output: 175144 kbps
I think it was made with Sony Blu-Code encoder

How can I get this file to work on my computer please?

I would try opening the file in Xvid4PSP 5.37, then saving to an MP4 container with video and audio both set to COPY.

  10. Thank you; I am trying it now.

I just received an error message saying:

    AVIFileSource: couldn't open file C:\Temp\0000_0.wav

    Then it stopped caching.

    What should I do?

  11. I found something called CoreAVC so I installed it. I tried MultiAVCHD again and it let me start encoding to Blu-Ray. However, it failed. This is the report that I got.

Plus, it deleted my original file! I'm lucky I have a back-up copy

    What am I doing wrong?

As the log says, start with a reinstall of FFDShow, Avisynth and Haali Splitter

  13. I re-installed all 3 programs. It still doesn't work

It seems to be having a problem whenever it tries to transcode the audio and the video.

I think I do not have the right codecs?

    What codecs do I need?

FFDshow should give you all the codecs you need, along with haali splitter. That is all I have ever needed to install.

  15. This has proven to be extremely frustrating.

I think it might have something to do with the Sony Blu-Code

Unless.... could it possibly have something to do with the fact that the MOV was made on a MAC and I'm working on XP? I can't see how that could be the issue, but that just occurred to me.

  16. use mediainfo (view=>text) and copy & paste the report back here

    If the bitrate is 175Mb/s , it's probably prores , not h.264

    Resolution: 1920x1080p
    Frame rate: 23.976
    Audio: LPCM
    Video: AVC H264?
    Output: 175144 kbps
Do you have quicktime installed ? If it is prores, you need the windows prores decoder as well

  17. Yes, I have quicktime installed and it still isn't working.

I downloaded and tried the prores decoder. It works!

Thank you so much! This is what I needed.

Now multiAVCHD should work and I can finally complete my project.

    Thank you everybody!
