  1. Hi,

I want to add some audio description to a movie. In order to work with the video in Premiere Elements 9, I first get the video in a single vob file with DVD Decrypter. Then I import it to VirtualDub-Mpeg2, which says the video is 720*576 and its DAR is 16:9. I uncompress the video into avi format and I load it into Elements. I export the file using PAL DVD Widescreen preset, but am unable to get it displayed in 16:9. What I get is the following:

Name:	scrsht.jpg
Views:	267
Size:	235.1 KB
ID:	4417

What shall I do to get the final video to be dispalyed in 16:9?

    Thanks for any help,
    Seyda

PS: By the way, when I play the movie from dvd, it is displayed in 16:9.

Let's go backwards. The encoder thinks the video is 4:3 so when you set the encoder to "PAL DVD Widescreen" it added the side bars. The Premiere project must be set to "PAL DVD Widescreen" but if the project thinks the imported video is 4:3 (i.e. no wide flag), it too will add side bars.

Did the monitor show side bars while editing? If so the wide flag is missing for the imported video. You can change it by right clicking on the timeline clip and changing the settings to wide.

If the project was set to 4:3 but the import video had the wide flag, the timeline monitor would show letterbox.

Experiment with the project, clip and encoder aspect ratio settings.

I think you lost the wide flag when ...
