Hi guys I got a computer at christmas fairly new and in the past 5days it's making a loud buzzing noise so I chatted with HP support and said see how it goes then call back I even opened the case and tried to isolate the problem I don't think it's the hard drive it was coming from the power supply, graphics card etc.... but now my desktop gadgets are going bezerk and I think it's the graphics card I'll post two images then i'll log off and give it a rest. Share your thoughts and help is appreciated.

That really does look like a graphical issue. Try booting from a linux live CD and using it for a while. If it does the same thing then it's likely a hardware problem.

The buzzing may be the fan on the graphics card. It's failing and the graphics chips are over heating.

I agree with jag. Most buzzing sounds I have had from my PC have been the fan on the video card.

Thanks guys, i'll ring phone support tomorrow they should be helpful because my monitor failed and within 3 days they replaced it.

If it's accessible you can usually stop the GPU fan by touching the center with your finger (don't touch the blades -- ouch!). If the buzz goes away you know it's that fan.

I did that accidentally once. Didn't hurt me but it busted two of the plastic blades off the fan. Had to replace it. Just for a quick fix, try putting one (1) small (small!) drop of household oil on the shaft. It may settle down until your new fan or card arrives. Usually they use cheap barrel bearings on those fans and they are notorious for giving out. Or a small squirt of WD40, although it really isn't a lubricant. But it will do for short-term.

I called hp support and they want me to backup and do a complete system recovery before taking it in for repairs well I decided to have a look inside the cpu myself so then i disconnected cpu fans noise still there then I disconnected the video card fan and the noise went staright away, i's dusty and I cleaned the cpu fans but the graphics card is hard to reach due to tv tuner etc...... so I read I have to unscrew and disconnect it, How do I clean the gpu fan properly? I have lintfree clothes not compressed air so do I need to remove the video card to do this? Thanks.

I agree with the fans, first thing I do with new fans is to peel the sticker off the actual fan and remove the small rubber plug and put a drop or two of oil onto the spindle and spin it just by blowing on it to get the oil in there, then wipe any excess and put the rubber plug back on and the sticker, then put the fan back where it was
I have 'saved' a GFX card that was given to me with a very very sticky fan than refused to turn, but using my method it was spinning free in a couple of seconds, and is still running now
Personally I use olive oil and its what we have in the kitchen, but it is literally a drop or two on the end of a matchstick or small screwdriver, it needs to be 'light' oil as its a very tiny moving part
Should outlast your computer then and make the fan a lot smoother running -
Only 3 months old?
Take it back, get it checked out, betcha it will pack up even more thoroughly at 12 months 1 day !
Monitor packed up after 3 days !
& why is it so dusty after 3 months.
Just my 2 cents worth , I had HP's years ago, never again.
