  1. Hi Guys,

    Looking to tweak these settings in xmedia recode (no forum on the user site, etc....pity)

    What MediaInfo says about my current encode ---> (What I'm looking for)

    direct=1 ----> direct=3
    chroma_qp_offset=-1 ---> chroma_qp_offset=-2

    And could someone explain these ones to me (I haven't seen them in Handbrake, etc):
    vbv_maxrate=10000 / vbv_bufsize=10000 / crf_max=0.0 / nal_hrd=none

    Thanks

    For a start. say what kind of file you're trying to make.

    There is a folder of .ini files, "Profile", that have the presets.
    You may find what you're looking for in these.
    You can copy and edit these to a custom profile.

    It's a generally solid program, but it does lack any way to give feedback. I tried emailing the author about a problem a while ago, no response.
    Of course, I hadn't paid him anything.

    vbv-maxrate is the maximum bitrate that can enter the buffer , vbv-bufsize is the size of the theoretical buffer, crf max places a lower limit on the quantizer (when it's set to 0, that is lossless) , nal-hrd is information required for blu-ray and some devices (HRD = hypothetical reference decoder)

    I don't use xmediarecode, but in some programs you can access extra settings by using the custom commandline box (entering values manually). I think you can in handbrake. You can for sure in megui

    If you want a list of most of the settings

    @poisondeathray: Thanks for that info and the link, it's gotten me closer to sorting these last few settings. megui....gonna test it out! xD

    direct was the "B-Frame Direct Mode"
    * Auto gives "direct=1"
    * Temporal gives "direct=2"
    * Spatial gives "direct=3"
    * None gives "direct=4"
