    Has anyone else experienced deterioration of digital 8 tapes. Now that they are just over 10 years old, is this something that is just cropping up? The tapes were fine a couple years ago.

    Either that or why would my digital 8 tape have broken sound on playback. I'm trying to convert my digital 8 tapes to final cut pro on mac.

    If it is multiple tapes and you stored them in optimal conditions, it could indicate a camcorder issue. You could borrow or rent another Digital 8 camcorder and see if you get better results.
