  1. I've been using DVD Shrink for a long time now and it works fine, I'm just wondering if there are any even better programs that do the same thing?

Define "better". Do you mean faster? Easier to use? Or gives better quality and don't care if it takes longer? You can look into DVDRebuilder if you mean the last one.

I used DVD Shrink for a few years; it mostly worked fine, but I finally got tired of the inflexible menu templates, aspect ratio non-detection, no option for copying DVD-format sound rather than recompressing, custom version of ffmpeg that when replaced with a recent build gave unpredictable results, occasional audio sync problems, etc.

When I recently asked here the same question you did, someone pointed me to AVStoDVD. I've now been using that for a few months and like it quite a lot.

Calidore I think you are confusing dvdshrink with something else. DVDflick maybe what you are thinking of? DVDshrink doesn't even use ffmpeg. And avs2dvd (while a fine program) is completely different from dvdshrink which is what the op wanted.

    I also suggest dvdrebuilder.

DVDRebuilder will give excellent results, and the Pro version is worth the price, just for more control and fewer bugs. But it doesn't work in quite the same manner as DVDShrink.

There are other transcoders like Shrink available. Rejig is a free one, though I wouldn't call it superior to Shrink. And there are commercial programs like Nero Recode, DVDFab, DVD neXt Copy and Clone DVD2.

Wow, massive brain fart. You are correct. I have no idea what happened there.

    Um, never mind.

No problem there. It's happened to all of us at one time or another!

for me dvd rebuilder was not an option with the older pc i had...it took 3 hours to to one title...Nero Recode/Dvd Shrink took like 30 to 40 minutes and that was fine with me. Through the years and recently(last year), I upgraded my PC to a quad core, my Dvd Rebuilder times went from 3 hours, down to 40 minutes on average. I now use Dvd Rebuilder with its multiple processes and the results are great with HC Enc. If I do the same with Recode the times went from 40 minutes down to 6 to 7 minutes. I just feel better using Rebuilder knowing the results are a little better. Occasionally I use Recode for a "non-important" title but 98% of the time I use Rebuilder.
