I live in the UK.
At the moment I use a multi region DVD player and it does me fine for all my DVDs from around the world.
I would like to purchase a multi region bluray player to go with my Samsung LCD TV.
Was recommended a multi region SHARP BD-HP24 but is to expensive for me., ( £280 )
Was recommended this site, I had a look at some of the hacks/unlocking codes.
There is an unlock/multi region code for the Samsung BD-C5300 player on this site.
I looked for this player on Amazon UK and they stock it.
If I purchase the Samsung BD-C5300 from Amazon UK, will the bluray hack/multi region code as shown here on this site make it multi region or is that to easy?
There is also a hack/multi region code for the DVD side of things on Amazon for this player in the reviews.
But I am a little confused.
Do I also need to apply/imput the DVD multi region/hack separately or if/will the bluray code do it all for both bluray and DVD side of things?
Could any one recommend a cheep/available multi region bluray/dvd player, ( or one that can be made so easily ) here in the UK if the above is not feasable?

You can count on ONE hand the number of Blu Ray players that can be made region free for Blu Ray playback....period.

hech54 is quite right.
Additionally, Samsung and Sony players of all types are among the most difficult in the world to unlock. If you are ever able to unlock a Samsung BluRay player, and I wouldn't bet on it, it will only free up the DVD side. No unlocking of BluRay. Note too that while SOME BluRay players can be unlocked with a code (only for DVD playback), sometimes this only works on models sold in specific parts of the world and not on the same model sold elsewhere. There are currently ZERO BluRay players that can be unlocked for BluRay playback with a code. ZERO. DVD region free playback can be unlocked on a mere handful of BluRay players.
The only BluRay players that are sold unlocked by various vendors for BluRay and DVD playback are Oppo and Momitsu (a.k.a. Hitecker in Europe). Both require a hardware modification to be done. The re-sellers always do this for Momitsu/Hitecker. The modification may be done by a re-seller or you may have to do it yourself in the case of Oppo. -
Actually many, perhaps the majority, of Blu-Ray *discs* are region free. Look here:

For the ones that are region-locked, you could always back them up. [shrugs]
And welcome to the forum.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
Okay, here we go again...what exactly do you mean by "reseller"? In the case of OPPO it's an add in board to the unit. In the case of Momitsu/Hitecker/Curtis etc. who did the hack? In the case of the Seiki, who did the hack? Do you mean by a reseller, the business that buys the original boards and then hacks them before they put the player together? The word reseller seems to be at fault here. For me, a reseller is someone who buys a part and sells it under their own umbrella (like Wal-Mart and their special players) or an outfit that buys a product and then rebrands it for their own company (like Denon). But any of the big box stores can also be considered resellers. They aren't hacking the players though.
Oh yeah, the Curtis and Seiki work great with their unlock codes (via the remote) for both DVD and Blu Ray. Did you get one yet? Did you not read this:

oldfart13 - I didn't say what I meant very well, but my point about not being able to unlock BluRay players with a code means that they simply cannot be unlocked without a hardware mod. It's not like a DVD player where it comes off the manufacturing line ready to be unlocked with a code.
Really? You're gonna bitch about "reseller"? Boring day? What that means is that Oppo and Momitsu do not ship their players unlocked and they require hardware mods. The reseller or whatever term you want to use, but it's not Oppo and Momitsu, puts in the hardware for you. I know of no Momitsu/Hitecker sellers, resellers, vendors, whatever who don't do that for you. With Oppo, some sellers put it in, some do not.
I know nothing about Seiki and Curtis but they are surely hardware hacked too.
Anyway, thanks for being an ass. -

Thanks for the reply.
I followed your link and then Googled Seiki BD660, came up with Wallmart Canada and a couple of other places.
I don't know anyone who lives in Canada, would you know if Walmart Canada ships to the UK or how I could obtain one of these players. -
Look for Hitecker HTB-1026. They were all over the place in London in the past year. There are others that are rebranded versions from other companies Perhaps someone from London or other parts of the UK can help. The Seiki (Philips clone) seems to be unique for Canada. I have seen no posts for a model from the UK as of yet. There may be other players out there that can also be unlocked. Just a matter of getting one and testing it....
Just found this link:

This is like my Curtis in every way except the name.... -
Thanks for the reply and the info.
I have found a HTB-1026, ready to go, £125-00 including delivery, good price or bad?
I have also found another make/model, ( depending on the S/N/ firmware ), but needs to be unlocked/remote hacked by me, £75-00.
I would prefer the Tevio one, can't find it on sale anywhere in the UK. -
I thought the HTB-1026 was a bit steep since the unit is now more than 2 years old. Depends on how badly you need one. Try to find out if there is a firmware upgrade that doesn't break the unlock ability. You might need it to play newer discs. I'm sure there may be other units out there. You might want to wait a couple months til Christmas as things generally get cheaper around that time. What is the other model/make?

I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Which is why in many cases like the old Liteon DVD recorders, the techs would just replace the whole board, drive, power supply, etc. rather than try to fix it as it was such cheap equipment. Probably most of the electronics we got these days is the same thing. This is why in my town most of the repair shops have shut down...it's easier to just buy another unit than pay $80 - $100 per hour to someone to fix an item that could be replaced for the cost of such repair. The way of the world these days, no?
