    Hey all!

New poster here. I collect VHS camcorders and usually only make a purchase if I get a guarantee of its function or am able to test it myself, but I came upon a really clean Sony Video8 PRO CCD-V220 - untested and without cables or a battery of course - at a swap meet and couldn't resist.

I was wondering if anyone here could help identify where the power input is, what cable I need to look for, and perhaps where I might go about finding it.

Here's the back of the camera:

    And the side, for identification:

    Good tip though!

Some of Sony's camcorders from that era used a mains charger that was the same dimensions/shape as the battery but had a flying lead and mains plug. It could be slotted into the battery compartment to power the camera directly.

I've got an old Sony 8mm CCD-V8AF which looks a similar vintage to the CCD-V220 (mid 1980s?). You can see some images here:

    (not my ebay listing)

and this image of the CCD-V220 shows a similar looking charger to the V8AF:

I don't know if the chargers are the same - the model number is too blurred to read. You'll have to do some more detective work and see if they're the same spec
