Hi,

I'm running MPC-HC 1.4.2499.0 on a Windows XP computer. I'm interested in finding a way to frame step backwards and forwards in MPC when I watch some DVDs that I've saved on the HD.

To try this, I've been following the instructions in this thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/293009-How-to-make-exact-screencaps-easily-from-DVD . I've been successful in using the MainConcept MPEG Splitter and the LEAD MPEG2 Decoder to step backwards frame by frame on the VOB files of the DVDs, just as the thread describes. But I haven't been able to step backwards on the Video_TS.IFO file.

When I open the Video_TS.IFO file in MPC, the filters it uses are DVD Navigator and the internal MPEG-2 Video Decoder, even though I've disabled that decoder in Options. I've tried changing the merits of the filters, and I've also tried adding the MainConcept splitter and LEAD Decoder as preferred external filters. Nothing has changed, though. I might be misreading the thread I've been following, but I think it suggests that it's possible to frame step backwards on DVDs (rather than just VOBs) which are saved to the HD. Ideally, I'd like to be able to watch the DVDs this way with menu and chapter functionality, but I'm not sure how possible this is.

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks!
