  1. How do I make a SVDC with at least 1800 bitrate and dolby surround but still get at least 50 mins on a 80 min CDR?

I currently use smartripper, DVDx & nero.

  2. you shouldn't have any problems achieving this at all, even with a good sized audio bitrate. all you need is a bitrate calculator. no idea if dvdx performs dd 5.1 downmixing, but dd 2.0 audio will retain the surround sound channels if you encode stereo(not joint-stereo)

  3. Sorry mate can you be more specific. you lost me. I calculate bitrate at the moment by playing with the bitrate until the estimated file size equals two disks. If you dont use dvdx, what do you use. My mate and I have spent weeks playing with different settings, trying things off the forums and the best I can get at good quality is 40 mins per disk. also can you be more specific about the sound settings. not sure what dd 2.0 is.

If you have a complete step by step, I would be eternally grateful.

  4. sorry, never used dvdx except to look at it when it was released. if you're wedded to dvdx i'd look into using cinemacraft premiere plugin as external encoder. the multipass vbr function is what you want to predictably fit 50min on 1disc while maintaining acceptible results. dd 2.0 is dolby digital pro-logic 4 channel surround sound. other types of audio you're likely to encounter are dolby digital 5.1(6 channel), lpcm(uncompressed cd audio) & dts variants. if you want a step-by-step without having to think try the guide on my homepage
