  1. Here is what I want to do simply in plain black and white

I have a .MKV file that I wish to author to a blank blu-ray disk. This computer is a powerhouse so I know any and all issues are not a result of hardware inadequacies.

I just bought a LB 10X BD Write model number WH10LS30 sata model and 20 blank blu-ray disks.

My first crack at this was supposed to be with Tsmuxer and BDedit. However after running tsmuxer BDedit wouldn't work properly. Upon running the program I ALWAYs get the message " Access violation at address 0055A894 in module "BDedit.exe". Read of address 00000000."

BDedit will open and run however it gives me Ivalid op codes under the MovieObject.BDMV section.

So I gave up on BDedit because supposedly IMGburn was able to take care of me.

I followed the directions to the T and burned the .MKV to a blank blu-ray. I tried to play it back on my Playstation 3 but there was about a 6" black bar at the bottom of the screen. The rest of the picture was great, just that black bar at the bottom which I suppose is because the .mkv is 1920x816p @ 23.976 FPS

I am wondering if there are any good ways to fix this and what programs they involve. This is very annoying and I just wish to author this .MKV to a blu-ray disk and have it be "normal"

Use multiavchd. It should be able to reconvert it to correct resolution.

Or just try stream the mkv with ps3 media server.

  3. Well the idea is to get them onto a blu-ray disk so that they can be watched on standalone players.

If I just wanted to stream to PS3 I would just continue to use PS3 Media Server like I have (you didn't know that though) in the past.

Here is the issue now, I have no idea how to run multiacvhd and it seems their webpage is down, no tutorial can be found and I can't figure out how to make it resize the 1920x816 movie to 1920x1080.

Is there any programs out there that can convert this movie from 1920x816 to 1920x1080 ? If so then I can just use tsmuxer and IMGburn to do the rest.

I've wasted a lot of my saturday trying to figure this out why is this SO much harder then working with a DVD file.

    Uncropmkv can reconvert to 1920x1080.

HD is a different animal. Also its relatively new in its life cycle so all of the ins and outs haven't been fully smoothed out yet into a clean crisp workflow. Its more difficult than say taking a sd divx file and making a dvd out of it. But its gotten a lot closer to a one step process than any time previously.

Also - does the video still look right inside the bars? Have you tried using your tvs zoom function to properly compensate for the ratio issue without reencoding? - also the ps3 has zoom modes you can try out also.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  6. I'm uncroping it with uncropmkv right now.... should do the trick. We will see...

Its going to take about an hour and a half.... going at about 12,000 kb/s not sure if this is fast or slow but it's using around 50-60 % of my processor

  7. This won't work either....

I used uncropmkv to change the video to 1920x1080 then ran it through tsmuxer and tried to burn with IMGburn... burning failed at 90%

I figured rather then waste another BD-R I would build an iso using IMGburn, mount it and see what I get.

The created ISO will not play in either VLC or windows media player?

I am all but about to give up on trying to get this 1920x816 video file into 1920x1080.... this is really really driving me nuts here.

Biggest kick in the rear end is PS3 media server will properly play the uncroped .mkv file

  8. I am in exactly the same boat as you are, same error message in BDedit and unable to find a simple solution to just take an mkv and burn it to a Blu-ray disk as a true blu-ray film. My effort ended up with a massive crop on the bottom but weirdly played fine on my pc, no problems with original films, so i am wondering if the problem lies with tsmuxer of IMGburn, if you get anywhere, i'd be grateful to find out what you did.

Neither VLC nor WMP support BD playback from ISOs.

  10. WBBIRL,

I finally got it sussed, I used a program called multiAVCHD, add file and select your mkv, if like mine, the title under "Compilation" window is red then it is the wromg format to create a blu-ray. Click on the "transcode" button in the middle and you will see under "properties" something in red, this will be reason for your problem. When you click the transcode button a window will pop up wityh a screen shot and some settings on the right. Make sure the "ref frames" is set to 4 and the "Uncrop to" is set to what you want then click "Apply" then click the "OK" button. In the "Author" tab, make sure that, under "General" you set the "Media split at" is set to what you want, I changed mine to 22000 as i want to be able to end up with just 1 file as I am burning to a blu-ray disk there is plenty of room. Check over the other settings alone the tab bar but I left all alone, except under "General" again I set my tv type to PAL. Once done, click on the start button, mine took about 3 hours to convert, I then burned the 2 directories with IMGburn and it all worked perfectly.

Hope that helps, shout if I missed anything.
