I might be getting the Kodak playsport hd camera soon. (this isn't for me personally but for a close family member and I'm the more technically proficient one to handle it).
Does the ps3 play .mov h264 hd files from the kodak hd cam series? I don't have any samples to test on my ps3.
I was hoping this would be like other avchd cameras and record in mts which I would hope the ps3 plays since it plays m2ts perfectly.
------------------------------
Also does the wdtv media player gen 1 play .mov h264 files? I know it handles some .mov files but not all .mov files.
------------------------------
One last question - can .mov h264 hd files be quickly transcoded into avhcd dvdrs?
I can do avchd pretty well with experience from my hauppauge hd pvr caps and from bluray backups and the like. Would it be just as easy to mux the .mov into an avchd structure with multiavchd?
-------------------------------------
Scratch that one last last question - what class sdhc memory cards are required for shooting in hd? How fast do they need to be and do they have a fat32 4gb limit? What is the realworld time limit on capturing with a 32gb card in 1080p?
Thanks to any answers on any of these questions.
I also may not be getting this camera but I would just like to know in advance if I do.

Bump
Ok well I went shopping with the family and after a lot of searching and discussing we ended up getting a kodak zi8.
It is being discontinued and had more features and was cheaper than the playsport model. However the store we were at didn't have it in stock and other stores in the area didn't have it either. We checked another store but they had it for more money.
I ended up finding it at ritzcamera.com for a few bucks less with free shipping and still came under the store price.
------------------------------
So with this finalized I had asked the store clerk if the ps3 can play these files and she said she was able to on hers - though I'm not 100% sure they were the same file type.
Will I be able to just plug the kodak into the usb slot on the ps3 and navigate through the ps3 like I do with my digital still camera? That would save the need to buy a remote for the camera. Also I can try the 360.
--------------------------------
What would be a good memory card to get? It does sdhc (not micro). The clerk said I'd need a class four card with 9mb/s transfer or better for hd video. What brand and capacity should I get? I think 8gb is probably more than enough - it seems two hours will fit on a card at 8gb.
Will that be 2 consecutive hours? If its fat32 will that be an issue? Does the file get split on the card automatically? How would it be integrated seemlessly if it does split it?
Also would shooting at 720p/60fps take more space than shooting 720p/30fps? I imagine it would with double the frames. Would you still get two hours on a 8gb card at 60fps?
