  1. Hello guys. I'm facing the following problem with my blu-ray player/recorder.I have the LG BH08LS20 installed in my PC, which i use mostly for backing up several things (music, photos, video etc because with one bd disk (25gb) i can burn many many things).

The disks that i'm using are these http://www.microcenter.com/product/364461/BD-R_6x_25GB_25_Pack_Spindle, that i find them in a local media store (in Greece), and the program for burning is Ashampoo Burning 11.

In every every time i burn a disk, the programs ''says'' that the burning process went fine, with no problems.

But recently i realised that some disks, when i place them in the computer (in this bd drive), can't be read from the drive. It shows that a disk is in the drive, but looks empty (but i can't burn anything to it).

I've installed the latest firmware for the drive, but nothing seems to change.

What is your opinion for this? Are the disks ''bad'', is the drive's problem?

LG makes decent Blu-Ray drives. I know nothing about the media your are using.

The software you are using might not be good. Try Imgburn instead. If you compare Imgburn's ratings to the ratings for Ashampoo Burning, you will see Imgburn received significantly better marks.

  3. Those discs are probably CMC_MAG, Philips has used them extensively in the last couple of years. Maybe not the best discs, although I've had no problem with them in my LG burner (different model though). It's possible that Philips sources different discs in Europe, I dunno.

ImgBurn can tell you the MID (media identifier) using Mode -> Discovery. Maybe try different discs? Are Verbatims available to you where you live?

I agree you should use ImgBurn, and also advise you to use the verification function.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

LG drives are notoriously fussy and may have problems reading some consumer discs. You will have to test your discs on a different drive, different PC or on a BluRay player.

I don't trust Ashampoo and there is always the possibility that you made a mistake in using it. Set ImgBurn for UDF 2.50 and you can follow this guide, which the author of ImgBurn wrote:

thank you jman!!! it's funny that i was just looking to this guide right now. Well 2 disks that couldn't read the Lg, i tested them in different PC (the only i was able to find with BD reader) with no good result. I have kept these disks in case i find another PC to test them. In average is 3 disks to 10, having this problem. And the worst thing of all is the price of them. Because for each 'bad' disk my loss is 2 euros (2 and something dollars), which is not very good for me.
