Hey.
I've got an .mkv that drifts out of sync more and more over time, which i'm guessing is because the audio stream is slower than the video.
I'm confident that it isn't a player problem, cause i've tried several different played inc VLC and MPC. The audio does not resync if I stop the track then resume or if I fast forward.
I've tried demuxing to 264/dts then remuxing to mkv with tsmuxer with no luck.
I'm thinking if I can use a tool to find the exact length in ms of the .264 I can stretch the .dts to the same length, assuming i'm right about the stream speed being off. If I open the original mkv and then the .264 in powerdvd8 (which I use because its more compatable with my creative soundcard) then there is a 1 second difference, but i'm going to want to be more accurate than 1 second.
This is from MKVinfo if that helps.

This is the exact same problem I have. Thus far, I have been able to confirm looking through VirtualDub Mod that my video source is commonly 4-5 minutes longer than my DTS audio source. If I were to mux the the h.264 + DTS track, I have a resulting .mkv that drifts out of sync over the course of the video. Now when i convert that DTS track to AC3 with MeGUI, the resulting AC3 track can be muxed with the h.264 track and played in perfect audio/video sync.
Question is what is it in a DTS track that needs to be compensated for in order to be able to be muxed with perfect video/audio sync?
Thanks -
If you are acquiring (downloading ?) mkv files that have a 4 - 5 minute discrepancy between the audio and video running times then you need to find a better source, as whoever is creating them has no idea what they are doing. If you are creating them yourself then you need to learn how to do it properly, as you have no idea what you are doing. if this is just a playback issue then you need to look at your codecs etc.
Start by convincing us that the audio and video are 4 - 5 minutes different in length - a mediainfo tree view would be a good place to begin.Read my blog here.
