  1. My question is this. I have a project in Premiere 6. My clips were captured at 320x240 with component video codec (my only option). I'm going to make a SVCD which is obviously 480x480. So should I render the entire project at 480x480 so the conversion to mpeg2 would be faster/better or should I render at 640x480 (or larger) in order to get a higher data rate for the mpeg2 encoder to work with? I know my video clips won't get any better (will they?) but I'm concerned with the quality of other things like text rendering and other effects.
Also should export with no compression at all? Millions+ colors?
Oh and another thing. If I could, would it be better to capture and edit my movie at 480x480 knowing my target is a SVCD?
Any input would help a lot........... Thanks!

Encoding to MPEG2 at SVCD resolution starting with a source that has only 240 lines of resolution will result in disastrous picture quality. If at all possible, always capture with a minimum 480 lines of resolution. That way your source will reach the minimum spec for DVD, and can be transcoded to any popular digital format with acceptable quality.
