Hi, I am able to play some MKV files off an external USB HDD through my player, but a couple will not start.
These happen to be two of the largest at around 10GB. Could it be something to do with that? Strangely other 10 gig files seem to work ok as do other smaller ones. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue might be?
I can play the files direct from the HDD when its attached to a PC just fine.
Player is this: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/Home+Entertainment/Blu-ray+Players/DMP-...trackInfo=true
Cheers

Install MediaInfo and post here the information it gives you about one of the files that won't play. I suspect that those 2 files have Header Stripping. There's some way around it but I don't remember what it is. After we confirm that this is the problem maybe someone else can tell you what to do to fix it.

Thanks. Yep, it's header stripping. You can see that listed in the first file but not the second. We've had discussions on how to fix this. I am working from memory so this may be wrong, but I think it was suggested to demux the video and audio streams and then to remux them together. At least you know what the problem is now so hopefully you can find a way to fix it.

Ok cheers, will have a look. Which bit of info are you looking at on that readout btw?

Seems the solution may be here, by using Haali Media Splitter
