  2. How big is the file? Any chance there's a 2GB or 4GB size limit?

  4. I was just speculating. Is file size the problem? If so, there's nothing you can do but hope for a firmware update.

Are you playing from a USB drive or via a network connection? If a USB drive, the FAT32 file system has a 4GB file size limitation. Using NTFS might alleviate the problem. NTFS supports larger files but many devices can't read it.

If it's a size problem, it is highly unlikely that a firmware update will fix it. Be warned that installing TV firmware is not without risk and some have bricked their TVs when attempting it. Even though I consider myself an experienced user and I've done plenty of firmware updates in my life, I won't even consider attempting one on a TV. Too much risk, too little reward.

Note that TVs don't support everything as playback devices. It sounds great to a lot of people to buy a TV that can play files via USB, but in reality they find out that the TV is pretty fussy about what it will play. Who knows what the problem is? It could be a size issue. Or a setting in the file that the TV doesn't like. Or the file could simply be corrupted and when it hits the bad spot, it stops.
