I have a 2005 model LG 42in Plasma set..... (great picture) that has DVI and RGB inputs rather than HDMI.
When I bought it, it was touted as "HDCP Compatible"..... both the manual and LG Support claim it's compatible with
HDMI equipped devices. However, any modern day device such as DVD players or DVD recorders with HDMI outputs
will give an error message when trying to use any resolution beyond 480P, using a standard HDMI to DVI conversion cable.

This TV will accept 1080i input throught the Component In jacks, but anything else won't work..... including an HDTV
tuner and recorder made by LG from the same era.....either the picture goes blank, or the message appears on the
transmitting unit "TV does not support"..... so I'm assuming the HDCP protocol is not implemented on this TV.

Is there any way around this ? I did buy a 2009 model Samsung Plasma set last year with HDMI inputs, all my receivers
and recorders work fine on this set, including a computer hooked up witht the same DVI to HDMI conversion cable.
This is driving me crazy, I have 5 HDMI equipped devices connected to the LG using Component & Composite inputs,
but I can't use the HDMI outputs because of this problem. LG Support was of no help at all. They suggest removing and
re-installing the cables and shutting the TV and components on and off, it still doesn't work......

  2. You can get an HDCP stripper. It may be illegal (DMCA) in the USA though. http://www.curtpalme.com/MUX-HD.shtm

Have you contacted Panasonic? Maybe they have a firmware fix.

Also search the model number on Google to see if this is a common problem/solution.

Personnaly, I feel Panasonic owes you an upgrade.

Thanx guys. $285 is a bit much for an HDCP stripper..... even if it actually works.
No info on the Internet about HDCP, mostly repair questions about technical problems.
Note that this is an LG product, not Panasonic
