  1. Heres the scenario..

I have a standard TV.. as in the regular square looking one..
I have some movies in AVI format and would like to know what SETTINGS i should use when converting the movies to play in a standalone DVD player for the best quality on the standard TV..??

I have burnt DVD's before and played them.. but it looks too sharp (resolution too HIGH or something) for the standard TV to handle.. So i want to kno what are the best settings to use when burning a DVD to play on a standard TV.. so that it looks good on it..

Maybe the aspect ratio needs to be change or the bitrate or sumthin.. but i want the appropriate settings for a dvd on a standard TV...

    thanks in adv

For a start do not alter the aspect ratio, leave the video as 16x9. the DVD player will handle the settings for the TV you are using, whether you want to display the video letterboxed (black bands top and bottom) or Pan and scan or zoom (fill the screen vertically but cut off the sides).
Once you've ruined the video by making it 4x3 you can never get the original back if you upgrade your TV to a newer 16x9 (widescreen).
