I can do a straight download of FLV files on YouTube using DownloadHelper (an add-on in Firefox) on my Mac G4. HOWEVER, I can not download an FLV file and convert it to an MP3 or Quicktime movie, for which DownloadHelper relies on FFMpeg.
I wrote to DH support, and they only sent links to their pdf manual and web page which I've already read several times. Other than that they have no answers. I followed their instructions exactly and it just doesn't work. When I try to download and convert with DownloadHelper, I get a java message saying that I'm missing an external application, and it asks "Configure conversion?". If I click on okay, I get the DH prefs, but changing the settings doesn't help. I downloaded the latest versions of both DH and FFMpeg, still nothing. Any suggestions? (besides getting a PC)
This software is a great idea, and would likely be hugely popular if they ever iron out the bugs!
