My dvd recorder is a Phillips DVDR600VR, which has the ability to dub VHS tapes to DVD. The results come out okay, with one exception; The recorded DVD-r's have video-audio dropout at various points that eliminate about a half-second of content. It's fairly aggrivating and I want to know if there is a way around it. The VHS tapes I've been trying to copy are at least 15-18 years old and fairly well-worn.
If I were to dub the VHS tapes to newer VHS tapes at SP mode, and then try to copy those to DVD using my DVDR600VR would that solve anything?
