I need help shrinking the size of a video clip. I have a small flip type video camera. I have a one minute clip that is 48 mb. I need it to be under 1 mb for Facebook. I have both Microsoft and Linux and need to use non cost software. Moviemaker made it about 6 mb.

I suppose you could take your 6mb clip and drag it thru Moviemaker again...
Keep in mind that your finished video will be approx 1/48th the quality of the original... -
Lower the video and audio bitrate to get smaller file size. Use 32kbit for audio and around 100kbits for the video( videocalc ). Use for example the very simple WinFF.
If you want to use windows movie maker you must create a custom profile using windows media profile editor, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/expert/customprofile.mspx
