Projector wont play video from various componets.

I recently bought an old LCD projector (TELEX P170v) to be used in my dining room. The projector is supposed to display the video from a PC that is in my living room. I ran a composite cable from the "PC to TV" converter boxes that is between the computer and projector to the projector, but was unable to get it to display the video from it.


I tried to get it to display video from everything in my entertainment center from my Xbox, VCR, DVD player, Gamecube, even the Monitor Out from my TV. Each time it refuses to display anything. I kicked the PC output down to 640X480, and still get nothing.


The only thing that worked was the video from one of those portable DVD players. I have no idea why though.


I'm completely out of ideas as to why this thing refuses to work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Run a VGA cable from the computer to the projector. Set the resolution to 640x480, 60 Hz.

You didn't ID the "converter boxes". Just connect directly from the PC to the projector. The projector is limited to 640x480.

D-Sub (VGA) - Best quality but cables are expensive and have limited length. At 640x480, not worth it.
S-Video (use this)
Composite RCA (2nd choice)

The converter box is called a PCTV kw-pctv 1600.


I tried connecting an S-Video cable from the converter box into the projector, while keeping the resolution at 640X480 with no luck.

I'll have to try to dig up a VGA cable to see if that will work.

Is the problem that you have no S-Video out of the computer? Otherwise why use the converter box?

The PCTV kw-pctv 1600 is a VGA to video (composite/S-Video) converter.
