Hi all
I have allways ripped and converted to XVCD
Now I´m thinking of convert to SVCD
I have made 2 films so far with good quallity, but the movies was not so big.
Whats the minimum bitrate to get a good looking picture?
How many minutes one cd /80min can I have before the quallity gets to bad?
Regards

The quality for a given bitrate depand on the source, and which encoder you're using. For 4/3 PAL I would always use a bitrate over 2000 kbps, 16/9 will give quite good quality at a lower bitrate (I'm talking about CCE 3-4 pass). Some sources might not give you good quality even with the max. SVCD bitrate.
The longest SVCD with very good quality that I've made was ~55 minutes 4/3 NTSC title. To me, the quality limit with PAL sources seems to be between 45-50 minutes per an 80 min CD.
