  1. So after HOURS upon HOURS of dedicating my notebook to DVD authoring of 2 VCD films onto a single DVD disc, I found that the output file messed up the subtitles. The subs look great in the subtitle editor window and even in the simulation, but the actual resulting file has the subtitles so far down on the screen that the second line of text is missing. Also, the text looks horrible in the actual DVD (ie. stretched out, hard to read) but great in the preview window and simulation. What gives? Any way to fix this?

If it's of any importance, the subs were imported in .srt format

Maybe because it makes a low resolutions dvd, 352x240(from your vcd source and to avoid video reconversion).

  4. You can raise their position on the screen easily by using DVDSubEdit.

  5. Thanks for the input. For some reason the DVD simulation did not match the output. The subtitles generated by TMPGEnc Author's intrinsic subtitle editor look great in the simulation but are pretty awful in the actual DVD. I suspect because they are created for the VCD resolution and then expanded to accommodate the larger DVD area. That's the only downside to the software--otherwise its very easy to use and allows me to author a great looking DVD with nice menus.

That being said, I would like to keep the DVD I created with all the existing menus and submenus, chapters, etc but replace the subtitle stream OR alternatively import VOBSub subtitles which are already graphic in nature. I've tried searching the userguides but they all seem overly complicated and use lots of software I don't own or am unfamiliar with. Is there a simplified way to take my srt and covert to graphic subtitle format and then mux to the existing DVD (only problem is I won't have a Subtitle menu then---so I'd rather create a subtitle stream with TMPGEnc and then replace it with a nicer looking VOBSub stream). Does this make sense?

  7. This is what I did: I loaded the srt into TMPGEnc Authoring Works but then deleted the contents, creating a dummy subtitle stream in order to keep the subtitle menu (on/off). Can I just mux the sub/idx I already created from the srt with txt2vobsub now?

  8. I don't know. I don't use any of those programs.

  9. I tried following Baldrick's guide; method one failed.

Trying method two now, but there is no VTS_01_01.IFO
    Just a VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.IFO and VTS_02_0.IFO

    What do I do?
