I'm getting locked out when trying to capture gameplay from a PS3. I've successfully used the IO/HD HDMI port for capturing off a PC video card (DVI to HDMI) but the PS3 is encrypted. Ideas for a workaround? I'd love to grab gameplay in 1080p!

Hmm... What capture card are you using?

Anyway, from what I heard from Avermedia's tech support, PS3's HDMI output is usually protected. You can try capturing from its composite ports...

Actually the poster would be better off using the component cables for high def. I am not 100% sure if the ps3 does 1080p over component. I know it does 1080i over component. I can do that over the component cables and capture beautiful video on my happauge hd pvr. I have not had any problems with it - whether capturing game footage or movie video.Originally Posted by darkarnDonatello - The Shredder? Sorry, I must have mixed them up...

Anyway, this is the email I am talking about...

 Thank you for choosing AVerMedia.

For your information, recording via HDMI is not possible if the external device or content have HDCP protected. For instance, PS3 is know to always have HCDP protection turned on. Therefore, it is not possible to do recording via HDMI. However, as an alternative. you may use the component connection to connect your PS3 to the TV tuner to do recording.

 Your question

Hi, I will like to know whether it can record the HDMI input from my computer like how it can record HDMI input from game consoles eg. PS3? I will use a HDMI wire to connect from my graphics card to the HDMI port on the AVerTV CaptureHD card. Thanks!
