  1. Greetings all,
After a month+ of daunting work I have converted my entire 400+ DVD collection to ISO images on my computer. I am now in search of the best piece of software to convert those ISO/DVD images into MP4's so that I may now use my collection directly from my PC to play through my X-Box 360 using its Media Center Extender capabilities.

Any and all information towards which piece of software I could purchase to get the best quality conversions would be greatly appreciated. Some of the ISO's are BluRay the majority are standard DVD.

Thanks in advance to any and all who can give me suggestions or info towards making sure this huge project ends with the best quality rips I can possibly have!

  2. Encoding all of those at high quality is going to take ages, much longer than ripping all your DVDs to ISO. Why not buy a standalone player like the Asus O!Play and stream the ISOs directly?

I agree with the above poster about saving your time and buying a device that plays ISO files, but if you insist on converting your ISO collection to MP4 try using handbrake.

  4. Im making the change because my collection is currently housed in two Kenwood DV5050M, 400+3 Multi Disc players they are OLD but still work flawlessly and im trying to get away from having such large pieces of equipment in my home theatre. Luckily the units have a interface so i was able to create the ISO's by allowing alcohol to read them directly fromt he players not having to even be here or swap a single DVD untill i got to doing the BluRay's.

The choice to use my x-box and convert all the ISO's is because I already have the x-box and Collectorz.com Movie Collector which works with Media center and my X-box so i can set it and forget it which is why I made ISO's of them to begin with. so I didnt have to swap a disc each time I wanted to convert. I will look at the Asus and see what the story is on it. And will also check out Handbrake for the conversions, I was leaning towards DVD-Fab Platinum after some reading.

Thanks for the input let me get started on finding out more about both of those you guys mentioned.

    UPDATE:
Well all after spending about 1 1/2 talking to the folks at Fengtao (it didnt take that long to get the info just a little tough to understand them) I have decided to go with DVDFab Platinum. Which has the capabilities to do exactly what I want and the fact that I can set a batch of as many files as I choose and walk away from the computer while it does its thing makes it the perfect choice. Unless there is a power outage I will be able to convert my ISO's directly to MP4 using h264+aac encoding without being at my computer. Cant beat that, set it to do its thing then I'll simply go fishing for the day. Then Rinse and repeat untill done! LOL
