  1. I've just bought a new computer and plugged in my firewire from my old computer which I used to plug my Panasonic mini dvd camera (NV-DS50) into for capturing video. On my old computer, my computer recognized my camera straight away, but on my new computer, it just keeps coming up saying 'Unknown device - Panasonic'. I really would appreciate some help here. I have tried everything! The computer knows that there is a Panasonic device plugged into the firewire, but it seems to want drivers. I never had to install any drivers for it on my old computer and all the forums I have read also seem to indicate that I don't need drivers. PLEASE HELP!

are you sure you are using the right cable. ieee1394 firewire and not usb? the port should be labeled DV on the cam. and make sure the camera is in play mode before plugging it in.
