    Hello, hello,

This is maybe funny question.. but is there any parameter to define that mencoder would encode with certain maximum speed, (e.g. maximum usable fps speed for encoding video), and it would not speed over that speed limit.

The reason why I want to decrease encoding speed is that at I'm capturing mpeg2 (TS file, 25fps) simultaneously from TV when I'm encoding it with mencoder. I have had some problems that mencoder would encode video too fast that it comes to end of the file before the real TV program have been ended (TS file fully captured).

Ideal situation would be that at encoding would stop after in just several minutes after capturing.. BUT it should be after the whole file have been fully captured. Other solution could be that if I can define somehow (tell to mencoder) that there is coming all the time new data for input file if mencoder comes to the end of this file before this capturing have been finished.

I'm using Windows environment and some specific automated tools for this TV capturing so I cannot e.g. pipe command thru the command line (as it would be quite easy to do on Linux). But I will use mencoder for encoding from the command line.

    That's an unusual workflow.

You can try this in Windows Task Manager. Set the base priority to lowest,
and you can set the cpu affinity so that it uses only one core.

Another possiblity is looking to see if there is a setting within the encoder to force it it use one core.

There is a command line utility called affinity that might work
