  1. Hi guys, I download alot of videos from the internet, but i never get how some videos can have such good quality and yet a small size compared to another video of bigger size/lesser quality.

For instance i have a video that is GREAT quality, the specs are:

    Format: AVI
    Length: 18 minutes
    Frame Width: 512
    Frame Height: 384
    Date Rate: 55kbps
    Audio Bit Rate: 120kbps
    Total Bit Rate: 176kbps
Frame Rate: 29 Frame Per Second
    Size: 181mb

So thats 181mb for 18 minutes of good quality video. This is how i would like all my videos to be.

Another video I have that is THE SAME OR WORSE quality but is a MUCH MUCH BIGGER filesize. The other video is a .mpg. and a 36 minute movie is over 600mb! And the quality isnt even that great! I dont understand.

How can convert this video to exactly the same quality and size as the other one? If it was converted the same as the other movie the 36 minute movie should only be 360mb or so. What program should i use to accomplish this?, it doesnt matter if its free or if i have to pay for it. Ill buy a program if it does what i need it to do.

  2. Use the same codec with the same settings. But that won't assure your videos will turn out as good as the one you're comparing too. Every video is different:

  4. Ok, i ran the 18 minute file through GSPOT. Heres what im seeing.

    Codec: XviD 1.0.2
    Average Bitrate: 1275
    Frames/s: 29.970
    and its 512x384

Now, what program can i get that will convert the other movie into these same specs?

PS: I ran a movie that I want to convert through GSPOT, heres what i got:

    Codec: MPEG 1
    Average Bitrate: 2000
    Frames/s: 25
    and its 512x288
The movie is 27 minutes long and is 441mb and looks shitty, if i used the same setting as the other file, this movie should be around 270mb.

What is making the bigger file look so shitty? Is it because it has lower frames per second than the other video?

  6. I use VirtualDub for that type of conversion. It will take a bit of learning but it's worth it if you will have lots of videos to convert. If you only have a few you should try something like MeGUI or Xvid4PSP.
