  1. I am SO stuck! I'm going to give it all to you here, and don't assume that I know everything as this may be something simple (I hope).

I have tried to make a VCD with VideoWave 5, Sonic Foundry's Video Factory2, VCDEasy, and Ulead DVD Movie Factory (demo version).
The video is an MPEG edited and 'made' in Video Factory.
None of these programs seem to 'see' that I have a CD burner installed.
VCDEasy gave me a message "No CD Writer/Reader found or ASPI drivers problem". I had similar results with the other programs. Well that just gave me a stoke because I'm so frustrated. I can burn CD's fine otherwise.

    Here is my comp/settings:

ASPI drivers: 4.60 (1021) (checked with a utility called aspichk)
CD recorder is a: LG CED-8083 (it came with Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4)
    Codec installed: many
Analog capture with a Dazzle DVC-80
AMD 900 with WinMe, 640 RAM, 30 gig HD

    Please help.
    Thanks, Jon

  2. First, i suggest you also check your IDE drivers, secondly, get rid of EZ CD, it's nothing but problems, lastly, if all else fails, reinstall the ASPI Layer, that can fix your problem, oh, and don't install the latest 4.7!

(it came with Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4)

Sometimes bundled softwear is customized for your burner, and other programs may not work.

Visit www.roxio.com they have updates for Adaptec Easy Cd Creator, as well as the new Roxio version.

Adaptec sold Easy Cd Creator to Roxio some time ago, you can also visit the forum on site.

Last I used was 4.02 I think, that was over while ago. These days people use Easy Cd Creator 5, Platinum. Download a trial, check that it works with your burner, it should support it.

  4. I found that while trying to use Uleads DVD Movie factor, that if I use any other CD writer program before using Ulead, Uleads won't work. I have to reboot and start Uleads program first. I'm using XP and sometimes it grabs the builtin CD/Burning drivers. With VCDEasy, I have to go to options and change the ASPI driver. and force it. Found this in the Help files.

  5. You should also check to see if there are any firmware updates for the burner.

  6. Thank you for your help. I pulled alot of hair out when vcdhelp.com's forums were down (this is the best site).

I tried Adaptec's new ASPI drivers, but that did not help. I have ver 4.6, and it did not update to 4.7 for some reason.

My solution came from vcdhelp.com, I downloaded CDRWin and that program changed my ASPI stuff. Now all those above programs recognize my CD burner.

All the info I got was from vcdhelp.com. Now I'm getting some stubble growing back on my head!

    Thanks, vcdhelp.....Jon

Yes the ASPI is strange, it says 4.70 but installs 4.6, there are some dll's in the the folder that are 4.7 though, but they might not be relevent.

    Still 4.6 is fine.

  8. Actually alot of people comlpained about v4.7 causing alot of problems, on both 98/Me/2000 and XP machines, I think you should stick to 4.6, it has proven to be more stable so far.
