  1. I have a dual monitor setup in WIndows 7 running 1920 x 1080 on one and 1440 x 900 on the other. I'm trying to play a DVD that plays fine in widescreen on a normal DVD player but on my PC plays more in a 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars on both sides. I've also tried ripping it to AVI files and playing it and get the same result. The ripped video is 720 x 480 resolution. I've tried multiple video players including WMP, TLC and KMPlayer. I've tried everything single zoom, stretch, double size and there is still black bars on the side. Same thing happens when playing the DVD directly with WMP. What do I have to do to get this to fill the whole screen without the black bars.

    Thanks!

Are you just playing vob files or opening the video_ts folder?

Try also MPCHC and check the DVD aspect ratio with MediaInfo.

  3. Tried it just selecting the DVD in WMP and hitting Play and also playing the AVI files that I ripped from it. Same thign with MPCHC, Media Info says the AVI is 720 x 480 3:2. If I select the DVD folder it says 4:3, strange my TV/DVD player plays it in widescreen though. IS there a way to convert it to widescreen format?

Your dvd player probably just zooms the video.

But you should be able to zoom using software players also. In MPCHC under VIew->Zoom.

  5. tried zooming to 200% in MPCHC and autofit and it still won't fill the screen

Assuming it truly is supposed to 1^:9, start with IFOAR2WS and change the IFO files. This may be enough for most players to play the DVD structure back correctly. If it is not, use DVD Patcher to patch the header flags in the VOB2 to 16:9 as well.

You might also post a screen shot or short clip so we can see the issue.
