I bought recently a lg ggw-h20l and with it came a BD-RE, wich is very usefull to make experiences before burn in others definitly. The problem is that image burn says it has to be formated before burning anything, but after some time it gives me an error message. I even tried to format with windows, but with no results so far. Could anyone give me a help? Thanks.

  2. The disc is probably bad. The disc that came with my lg burner lasted about 10 writes before crapping out. Buy some Verbatim BD-RE's for reliability.

    Hi
    I bought a GGW-H20L last dec from newegg. I got a blank LG BD-RE 25GB disc.
I could not format it also. It is a defective disc.
I called Newegg. They said I can mail both the Drive and unusable Disc they will mail
a new drive and blank also.

I di dnot want to do that. I called LG support line. After 2-3 months of hassle with them,
finally got a replacement disc. It worked for a while (may be 8-10 re writes). After that
it keeps giving error while reading. basically it is useless. I bought verbatim 25GB RE and also several
    Memorex BD-RE (25G). TDK 50GB-RE and SONY 50GB RE.
    They all work fine.

Try and bug the LG or whover sold this to you.

I use Imgburn for this. When you try to write something first time, it will tell you that the disk needs to be formatted.
You say OK. If you get error after this step, then the disc is still bad.
Nero Burning ROM program can also do this.
If you have a Linux machine, there is a program ( I do not recall the name now) which can format BD-RE.
I tried that and it gave me error with the bad LG disc.

The replacement disc worked for a while and then went bad(I can still rewrite on it, but gives error at the end of disc when reading). SO I do not use that much. I use Memorex SL BD-R and BD-RE. I also bought TDK BD-R DL, BD-RE DL, SONY BD-R DL
and some more from ebay and they work fine.
