  1. I keep getting this error message while trying to install:

##sh: -c: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
sh: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file

What does this mean, and what am I doing wrong?

Install what exactly ... off the top of my head they look like Linux/Unix shell script errors!

Most likely, your file has an apostrophe (') in its name, or (one of) its parent folder(s), or the volume name. Remove the offending character and try again.

  5. Yeah, I'm trying to install ffmpegx. I'm gonna need the dummy version of any troubleshooting help. I downloaded the (mplayer, mencoder, mpeg2enc) files from the ffmpegx webpage so I don't see why I'd need to change the name of anything or delete any apostrophes. If you could tell me step by step in what you think I should do, I'd appreciate it.

This error (unexpected EOF while looking for matching `'') can also occur when there is a problem with your password. Does your user account password contain a special character like " ' ` ´ “ ” ‘ ’ ? If so, change the password (temporarily).

  7. Yup, that was it... Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.
