  1. I have some home made DVDs that have 18 chapters. Each chapter is a show. The disk is not copy protected. How can I rip the disk such that there are 18 mpg files, one per show, after the rip? I've done it before, but it was a long time ago, and I cannot remember how I did it. VOB2MPG does what I want, but it copies everything into one file. I thought there was a way to rip it with DVD Decrypter in the File mode, but I can't find my notes. Please help!

Not in File Mode but in IFO Mode. Deselect all the chapters (Right-click on the chapters and 'Select None' or something like that) and check one. It'll give you a VOB though, which you can either rename as MPG or (better) run the VOB through VOB2MPEG when done.

    DVDDecrypter can do this.

Go To Tools > Settings, click on IFO Mode tab, then change File Splitting to "By Chapter":

    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Actually, there are 8 shows on the DVD, and there are chapters within each show. I just did a test with File Splitting by VOB (something), and I got a VOB file of show

    1. Should I run that show through VOB2MPG or just change the file extension?

    2. Can I convert all 8 shows at once (DVDD will not let me select multiple PGCs, if that's the right name.)

    3. Where can I find a good tutorial on DVDDecyrpter?

    4. Where can I find a good tutorial on PGCs, PUOs and such?

DVDDecrypter is a great little program that will probably meet all of my needs since I don't mess with encoded movies and such. I'd like to get to the point that I really understand what I'm doing, if that's possible.

ETA: I ripped all eight shows with DVDDecrypter, and when I play them in Windows Media Player, there is no video. The DVD plays fine in Windows Media Player, so it should not be a codec problem. I'm going to take a break.
