Ok I've been making Vcd's for a while now and thought I knew what I was doing. I use Tmpg v.2.1 to encode my movies (SEvcd Template) and I play them on a Dae-Woo 5000N. Lately, I've been getting this problem. Halfway through a movie the screen becomes very pixaled and a green shade comes over the bottom half. Eventually the movie becomes unwatchable or just freezes up. Does anyone know what could going on? Is it my encoding or my dvd player thats messing up? Thx, for any help. Btw I did have this problem once before with one vcd. However, the problem seemed to fix itself that time.

had this problem also,
change to a different brand of CDR's, compare the color of the CDR's that work ok and that's it -
I may have to differ here...
First, clean both the disc and the player lens. Done? Does it still do that?
Then it's not your CD-R's. If they work once, they should always.
It's a cheap player. By player, I specifically mean the ROM drive.
My Apex does (did) exactly the same thing. The ROM drive was so absolutely cheap, that I got only about 3-4 months of use out of it before it had problems reading discs. I've done everything known to man to fix it, but in the end it was the cheaper-than-cheap ROM unit.
You and I both get those green blocks (or desynchs) because the ROM is so weak that it can't keep up with reading all the the data.
SIDE PLUG: Since the ROM unit is replacable with any PC DVD-ROM drive, I'm selling it on E-Bay, in case anyone's interested. AD-500W model. Decoder works great, ROM has issues. $20 starting.
Anyway, I'm almost sure that Daewoo is in the same league as Apex as far as component (guts) quality. Cheap player usually = cut corners somewhere. Usually it's with the ROM drive.
I just got (yesterday, in fact) a Pioneer DV-343 player, which is supposed to be far and away better quality. On sale at Amazon.com if you hurry.
(sounds like I'm a real salesman here, doesn't it)?
