Excuse me. Sub Station Alpha requires wav files to be 8-bit (not 16-bit) and mono (not stereo). But you can use any sample rate.

I am not sure what the problem is. Start SSA, write your subs and define the start and end time. To preview the subs press playback > play from start, press OK and after that any key. The screen turns black and it starts to play. Since you loaded a audio file, you will see if the subs are in sync.
    Then continue here:

  7. Well..the wav file that Im using is 16 bit and setero.
It works just fine if I work with dialog-mode. I watched the preview, the screen turns black and it starts to play (showing subs in yellow).

If it is working with the wav file (8bit-mono)..how will I know that the subs are in sync?
    Thanks allot man...

  8. I've changed it to 8bit-mono using virtualdub...

Now it works (it plays the wav sound), but how will I know that the subs are in sync? Must I just wait till the wav are played out?
Why dont I got to see the subs like if I prieview it on Dialog (black screen and subs are shown in yellow)?

    thanks...

Play the audio file. When you reach a point where you want to add a subtitle, stop playing and grab the time. Write the subtitle. Start playing again from that point, stop, grab, write and so on. Yes, selfsubtitling is a real dirty job.
When you want to view the subtitles, make sure SSA is the only active application. Also check background activities.

Hmm, then I did missunderstand you completely.
    Convert sub to ssa
You do not need sub station alpha itself.
