Does anybody have a list .... or have suggestions .... on which software players mask the overscan? Quite a few homemade DVDs have unmasked noise, and it would be nice to "zoom in" on those discs. I think 1.2x or 1.3x would do.
VLC doesn't, not that I saw.

The KM Player has a "Full Screen (Overscan)" mode, although I am not convinced that it does much different to the standard fullscreen. However you can use the Numpad + / - keys to incrementally zoom the image in and out within the frame. The steps are pretty small, so one or two increments with the + key will hide most standard VHS head noise etc. Worth a look. Read my blog here.
