This is my first post on here, so Hi everybody!

Few days ago I bought Canon HFS10 camera. I'd like to share with you how I copy video from this camera onto my laptop (MacBook) without losing much quality. Videos are recorded at highest settings on my HFS10. Here are the steps:

1) Hook up your camera to your pc via USB.
2) Find and copy .MTS file you want to save to pc (.MTS file is actual video file).
3) Open the .MTS file you copied in HandBrake.
4) Video tab:
Format: MKV file
Video Codec: H.264 (x264)
Framerate (FPS): Same as source
2-pass encoding: on
Quality: Average bitrate (kbps): 10000
5) Audio tab:
Audio Codec: AC3 Passthru
Mixdown: AC3 Passthru
6) Advanced tab:
Current x264 Advanced Option String: ref=4:deblock=0,0:analyse=all:me=umh:deadzone=21,1 1:threads=6:direct=spatial:wpredb=1:wpredp=2:rc-lookahead=1
7) Picture Settings:
Anamorphic: Strict
Cropping: Automatic
Deinterlace: Fast
8) Choose destination file name and press start to encode.

Encoded file was great quality (at least for me). It was also more than 2 times smaller in size than original .MTS file.
Encoded .MKV file plays fine on my MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM. Also plays fine on my FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player.

I hope this will be useful to someone.
